Enamel fingerplate Cognac Frères Gautier
Handmade Enamel Doorpost Sign – Cognac Frères Gautier
This nostalgic enamel advertising sign is based on an original 1907 poster by Leonetto Cappiello, the Italian artist often regarded as the "father of modern advertising." The sign measures 77 × 230 mm.
Cognac Gautier Frères has been around since 1755, making it one of the oldest cognac houses in the world. The distillery is located in Aigre, in the Charente region of France, and is known for its unique aging process, influenced by the humidity of the nearby Osme River.
Cappiello’s poster depicts a woman carrying enormous bunches of grapes on her shoulders, a striking image symbolizing the abundance and quality of Gautier Frères cognac. At the time, this advertisement gave the brand a strong visual identity, and to this day, it remains a timeless symbol of craftsmanship and tradition.
